Our Background

Ethnic Welfare Society (EWS-Okhaldhunga)

Ethnic Welfare Society (EWS-Okhaldhunga) is a non-profit making Non-Government Organization (NGO) established in 14 Bhadra 2057 B.S.(2000 AD) is a non-profit making and non-governmental social development organization, registered in District Administration Office, Okhaldhunga district with registration number 145 and affiliated to the Social Welfare Council, Government of Nepal. The organization was founded by a group of professional development workers.

EWS has been implementing various community development projects. It has directed its development efforts towards strengthening the capacities of the communities and local development partner organizations to build a culture of peace creating an enabling environment for sustaining the development activities by the communities themselves.

Currently, EWS-Okhaldhunga has staff strength of 23 appropriately specialized in management, planning and engineering, agriculture including social mobilization. Our technical expertise is particularly strong in the social mobilization sector; having proven track record of implementing numerous projects in Okhaldhunga district. Similarly, skilled facilitators explore into the community friendly feasible infrastructures; and accordingly provide information to the targeted beneficiaries to increase their choices of growth and development.

To address health, education and enterprise development issues, EWS implemented a number of programs on behalf of women, children and disadvantaged community. Based on the studies that suggest progress in poverty reduction is possible through the extensive support in agricultural and rural development. EWS’ one of the key vocations is to support for the livelihood promotion of women of Okhaldhunga district and raise awareness through advocacies at the community level by mobilizing CBOs and groups. During the intervention of different agriculture and forestry improvements activities, EWS has enabled the poorest people of the district to gain access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene education.

EWS involves beneficiary communities and local partners in the design and implementation of the programs. It provides technical and administrative inputs to the staffs and develops qualified local personnel, enabling them in the longer term to take over the technical management of programs.

EWS has accumulated experiences working with local partners and Cooperatives, who understand local issues, and provide them with the skills and support to help communities set up and manage practical and sustainable projects that meet their real needs.

हाम्रो काम गर्ने दृष्टिकोण

EWS-Okhaldhunga लक्ष्य समुदायहरूलाई CBOs

र पछि CBN ओएसमा लक्षित समुदायहरू व्यवस्थित गरेर निस्क्रिय विकास दृष्टिकोण पछ्याउँछ। लक्षित समुदायहरू सामाजिक-आर्थिक पहलुहरूमा अभिमुखीकरण, प्रशिक्षण र क्षमता निर्माण उपायहरू पाउँछन्, जसले तिनीहरूको क्षमता बढाउँछ र ईएसडब्ल्यूबाट टेक्निकल ब्याकस्ट्रोप्सनको साथ आफ्नो योजना र कार्यान्वयन सुरु गर्नेछ। सीबीओहरूले तिनीहरूको आवश्यकताको मूल्यांकन गर्छ, जसको आधारमा योजना प्रक्रिया पूरा हुन्छ र उनीहरूले यस्ता कार्यक्रमहरू लागू गर्छन्। वृद्धि संस्थागत क्षमता संग, उनि सामुदायिक विकासको लागि जिल्ला लाइन एजेन्सी र अन्य विकास अभिनेतासँग समन्वय गर्न र सहकार्य गर्न नेतृत्व गर्नेछन्।

EWS 3 वर्ष को लागि CBOs संग काम गर्दछ, जसको बाद प्रत्येक ग्रामीण क्षेत्र को एक सदस्य शामिल ग्राम नगर पालिका स्तर मुख्य समितिहरु को गठन गरिन्छ। मुख्य समितिकाहरू (एमसीहरू) समूहको गतिशीलता, साझेदारी कार्य योजना, प्रगति को निगरानी र हितधारकहरु संग लिङ्क मा सीबीओ को सुविधा प्रदान गर्दछ। एमसीहरूको गठन पछि, ईएसडब्ल्यू नेपाल अर्को संस्थाले 2 9 3 वर्षको लागि काम गर्दछ जसले नेटवर्क सङ्गठनको गठन गर्यो, एक सदस्य आधारित संस्था, जुन प्रत्येक मुख्य समितिबाट 2 सदस्य हुन्छन्। ईएसएस नेपालले CBNO को क्षमता विकासमा ध्यान दिएका छन् किनकि यी CBN ले संगठनका द्वारा आफ्नो क्षेत्रमा पेश गरेको सामुदायिक विकास पहल जारी राख्नको लागि हो।

परियोजना चक्र 6 वर्ष पछि, CBNO को लागि 3 वर्ष वित्तीय र टेक्निकल ब्याकस्ट्रोप हुनेछ। यद्यपि, ईडब्ल्यूएस नेपालले विभिन्न उपन्यासहरू मार्फत स्थानीय सहयोगकर्ताको रूपमा CBNOs सँग दीर्घकालिक साझेदारी गर्नेछ। अहिलेसम्म, संगठनको विभिन्न कार्यरत जिल्लाहरूमा 17 वटा सीबीओओहरू गठन भएका छन्, जो नेपालका सरकारी र गैर-सरकारी संगठनहरूबाट पनि विदेशमा विकास परियोजनाहरू आकर्षित गर्न सफल छन्।
